Clemson Women’s Soccer to Play Host to North Carolina State

Clemson, SC — The Clemson women’s soccer team will open conference play on Friday night as it plays host to North Carolina State at 7 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field.

Clemson is currently 6-2-1 on the season after defeating Coastal Carolina on Sunday evening 2-0. Freshman Kelly Schneider scored her third and fourth goals of the season, and junior Paige Ledford accounted for both of the assists on the night.

Clemson is led offensively by freshman Courtney Foster with five goals and three assists on the season. Ledford leads the team with four assists. Graduate student goalkeeper Lauren Whitt owns a 0.34 goals against average and has recorded five shutouts.

North Carolina State comes to Clemson with a 6-3-1 record (0-1 ACC). The Wolfpack is coming off of a 4-0 victory over High Point last weekend. North Carolina State losts its ACC season opener 7-0 to Virginia. The Wolfpack is led in scoring by Lindsey Underwood and Erin Griswold who have each netted six goals and recorded five assists for 17 total points. The North Carolina State defense is led by goalkeeper Megan Connors who owns a 1.65 goals against average and has recorded one shutout.

Clemson leads the all-time series against North Carolina State with an 8-2-3 record. The Lady Tigers are unbeaten aginst the Wolfpack in matches played at Historic Riggs Field, with Clemson’s record over that time 3-0-2. Clemson currently holds an eight match unbeaten streak against North Carolina State. The Lady tigers are 7-0-1 dating back to 1997. Last season, Clemson defeated North Carolina State 2-0 during the regular season, and downed the Wolfpack 5-2 in the ACC Tournament.
