CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team will play host to Winthrop on Monday night at Historic Riggs Field. The game between the Tigers and Eagles will begin at 7:00 PM, and admission is free. The game will also be broadcast live on TigerCast on ClemsonTigers.com.
Clemson is 4-1 on the season, after defeating South Carolina by a score of 1-0 in double overtime on Saturday night in Columbia. Sophomore forward Liska Dobberstein netted the game-winning goal with 28 seconds left to play in the second overtime period against the Gamecocks. Dobberstein leads the team in scoring with three goals for six points through five games.
Junior forward Tabitha Padgett (one goal, three assists for five points) and sophomore midfielder Katelyn Reeve (two goals for four points), rank second and third, respectively, on the team in scoring. Freshman keeper Hunter Rittgers has recorded 15 saves and four shutouts (three solo), and has given up just one goal through the first five games of the season for the Tigers.
Winthrop has a 1-1 record so far this year, after falling to Western Carolina (2-1) on August 26 and defeating South Carolina State in overtime (2-1) on August 29. Devin Puckett has one goal and one assist for three points, and Amelia Henderson has posted 12 saves and given up three goals in two games in goal for the Eagles.
Monday’s game will be the first meeting between Clemson and Winthrop in women’s soccer.
