Clemson Women’s Soccer Team to Play Host to #3 Wake Forest Sunday Afternoon

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team will return home to Historic Riggs Field after four consecutive ACC road games to play host to third-ranked Wake Forest on Sunday, October 23. The game between the Tigers and Demon Deacons will kick off at 1:00 PM and will be broadcast live on ClemsonTigers.com via TigerCast.

The Tigers are coming off of a 2-1 overtime loss to NC State in Raleigh, NC on Thursday, October 20. The loss dropped the team’s record to 5-11 overall (0-9 ACC). Junior forward Maddy Elder scored the Tigers’ lone goal against the Wolfpack, which improved her season goal total to seven. Elder also has five assists on the year, and leads Clemson in scoring with 19 points.

Freshman forward Lauren Arnold has posted 38 saves in 1087 minutes in goal for the Tigers so far this year.

Wake Forest has an 11-2-3 overall record and a 4-1-3 mark in ACC play. The Demon Deacons suffered their first conference loss of the year in their most recent outing, a 2-0 loss at #6 Duke on October 20. Katie Stengel leads the team in scoring with 13 goals and four assist for 30 points. Aubrey Bledsoe has played all 1508 minutes in goal for the Demon Deacons, posting 44 saves and giving up eight goals on the season.

Clemson has a 12-6-3 all-time record in the series against Wake Forest, however the Demon Deacons have won the last four in a row in the series. The last time the two teams met at Historic Riggs Field, then-ninth-ranked Wake Forest defeated Clemson by a score of 3-0 on October 4, 2009.
