Clemson Women’s Soccer Team to Open Season at Home Against Alabama-Birmingham Friday

Clemson, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team will open the 2008 campaign on Friday night as it plays host to Alabama-Birmingham. The game between the Tigers and Blazers is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Riggs Field.

Friday’s game will be the team’s first regular season contest under new head coach Hershey Strosberg. The Tigers defeated Charleston Southern 4-0 in an exhibition match in Charleston on August 16.

The Tigers return six starters and 16 letterwinners from the 2007 squad, which finished the season with a 10-6-5 overall record. Clemson advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2007, reaching the national tournament for the 14th consecutive season.
