Clemson Women’s Soccer Team Ranked 20th by the NSCAA

Clemson, SC – The Lady Tiger soccer team is ranked 20th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll released on Tuesday, September 18. The Lady Tigers have a 5-1 record entering Friday night’s 7:30 p.m. matchup against 10th-ranked South Carolina at Riggs Field.

For the second straight week, Stanford holds the top spot in the NSCAA poll. Santa Clara, Portland, Texas A&M and Texas are second through fifth, respectively. Five Atlantic Coast conference teams are ranked in the top 20 of the weekly poll led by Virginia at seventh.

Head Coach Todd Bramble’s team was 1-1 in matches at the Carolina’s Cup last weekend in Charlotte, NC. The Lady Tigers defeated Furman by a score of 2-1 on Friday and fell to UNC-Charlotte 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Tigers are led by sophomore midfielder Molly Franklin who has one goal and eight assists for 10 points so far in 2007. Senior forward Nuria Zufia has netted four goals for eight points and red-shirt senior midfielder Courtney Foster has one goal and four assists for six points on the season. All-American goalkeeper Ashley Phillips has given up just one goal in 380 minutes of play and has 19 saves in the five matches she has played in.
