Clemson Women’s Soccer Team Falls to #6 Maryland Thursday Night in College Park

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Clemson women’s soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to sixth-ranked Maryland on Thursday night at Ludwig Field in College Park, MD. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 5-9 overall (0-6 ACC), while the Terrapins improve to 12-1-1 overall (4-1-1 ACC) with the win.

Maryland scored twice in the first half, with Molly Dreska putting the first goal on the board at the 13:11 mark and Jasmyne Spencer netting the second goal less than two minutes later at 14:48. Caitlyn McDowell scored the Terrapins’ third goal in the 58th minute and Spencer tallied her second of the game in the 81st minute.

For the game, the Tigers took two shots, to Maryland’s 20 shots and 13 corner kicks. Freshman keeper Lauren Arnold posted seven saves in goal for Clemson, while Yewande Balogun tallied two for the Terrapins. There were six fouls called on the Tigers and seven called on Maryland in the contest.

Clemson will conclude its four-game road stand on Sunday, October 17 as it faces 11th-ranked Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA. The game between the Tigers and Eagles will begin at 1:00 PM at the Newton Campus Soccer Field.
