CLEMSON, S.C. – Sophomore midfielder Megan Bornkamp has been named ACC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon, while junior midfielder Hal Hershfelt was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week. This is the second time that Bornkamp has received the honor in her early career.
Bornkamp recorded three points, a game-winning goal and an assist in the win over then No. 12 South Carolina while playing in all 90 minutes for the Tigers. The goal came off a beautiful corner from Renee Guion and headed into the back of the net past the Gamecock keeper. Just a few days later, Bornkamp recorded a career-high three assists in the win over Gardner-Webb, assisting Harper White, Fran Stables and Renee Lyles. This was Stables’ first career goal and White’s first goal of the season.
Hershfelt recorded the first goal against in-state rival South Carolina and another against Gardner-Webb to bring her point total to four on the week.
Behind the strong efforts of Bornkamp and Hershfelt, the Tigers are currently third in the nation in points per game.
The Tigers will start ACC play and host Pitt at Historic Riggs Field on Thursday night at 8 p.m. Game coverage will be available on ACC Network.
