Clemson Women’s Soccer Announces Signees

Feb. 4, 2004

CLEMSON, SC-Four players have signed national letters of intent to play women’s soccer at Clemson in the fall of 2004, as announced by Head Women’s Soccer Coach Todd Bramble Wednesday afternoon.

The four players include Jacquelyn Hines, Lou Hudson, Logan Hull, and Ashley Phillips.

Hines who is a forward from Seneca, SC attended D.W. Daniel High School. She has been a member of the Alabama State Olympic Development Program (ODP) team in 1998-2000 and is a member of the South Carolina State ODP team from 2000 to the present. She is also a Region III Pool player form 2000 to the present and plays for the Greenville Futbol Club. Her father Jack Hines is an assistant football coach at Clemson.

“Jacquelyn will add depth and a dimension to our attack that will strike fear in opposing teams,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. “Her speed may be without rival in the ACC. She has shown great improvement recently with her finishing touch to complement her killer speed. She has a very bright future with our program.”

Hudson is from Mount Pleasant, SC and played for Wando High School. The midfielder/forward plays for the club team, Mount Pleasant Ice. Her club team has won five state championships and advanced to the Region III finals on two occasions.

She is a member of the South Carolina State ODP team. She has been named all-state and was named a 2003 NSCAA High School Scholar All-American.

Her father Billy Hudson played football for Clemson.

“Lou is a very gifted athlete who is coming from an extremely successful high school and club soccer career,” said Bramble. “Although she is a more attacking oriented player, she brings versatility between the midfield and forward positions. Once she adapts to the speed and physical nature of the college game, she has the potential to be a very good player for Clemson.”

Logan Hull is from Lakewood, CO where she played at Green Mountain High School. The defender also plays for the Colorado Rush club team.

Hull is a member of the Colorado State ODP team in 1999 to the present. She is also a member of the Region ODP team in 2000, and 2002-present. She was also a member of the national ODP pool in 200. Her club team won the National Championship in 1999.

“Logan is a very talented defender who combines good playing technique with tenacious defensive qualities,” said Bramble. “She is fast and has the ability to play anywhere in the back. She comes from the storied Colorado Rush Soccer Club which is comforting to know that she has received rigorous training from professional coaches, and has won a national championship at that level.”

Ashley Phillips attends Milton Academy and is from West Peabody, MA. She also played for the Spirit of Massachusetts club team. The goalkeeper is a member of the United States Under-19 National Team in 2003. She was also a member of the U-17 National Team in 2002-03, and a member of the US U-16 National Team in 202.

Phillips is a member of the Region I ODP Team in 2002-03 and a member of the Massachusetts ODP team in 2002-03.

“Ashley is undoubtedly one of the top three goalkeepers coming out next fall,” said Bramble. “While she has firmly established herself at the youth national team level, what’s most exciting is she has only scratched the surface of her abilities. Once she gets in our environment with daily goalkeeper training and is surrounded by great players, the sky’s the limit. It’s comforting to know we will have one of the best goalkeepers in the country between the pipes for several years to come.”

“When you add Lindsey Beam and Elizabeth Jobe (who both matriculated this semester) to these four players, I feel this group will stack up with any recruiting class in the country. Not only have we addressed our needs, but also we have added an amazing amount of talent to our squad. This class will undoubtedly leave their mark on Clemson Soccer’s history and we can’t wait until we have them all here in Tigertown!”
