Clemson Women’s Rowing Team to Travel to Charlottesville, VA This Weekend

Clemson, SC – The 13th-ranked Clemson women’s rowing team will travel to Charlottesville, VA to take on #2 Virginia, #3 University of Southern California, #8 Michigan State, #17 UCLA, and #18 Texas. In three sessions, Saturday morning/afternoon and Sunday morning, the Tigers will race in fifteen races.

“We are looking forward to our Varsity crews racing 3 great programs this weekend in USC, Texas and UCLA,” said Clemson Head Coach Lincoln LaRoe, Jess Leidecker and Adam Bruce. They have all been tremendous this spring getting our team prepared for battle.”

In the Saturday morning session, Clemson’s Novice 8 and two 2nd Varsity 4 boats will race against #18 Texas, beginning at 9:00 AM. The Tigers’ Varsity 4, 2nd Varsity 8, and Varsity 8 boats will race against #3 USC, beginning at 9:50 AM.

The Saturday afternoon session will first feature Clemson’s Novice 8 boat taking on #8 Michigan State at 2:10 PM, followed by the two 2nd Varsity 4 boats also racing against the Spartans at 2:30 PM. The Varsity 4 will then race against #18 Texas at 2:40 PM, and the 2nd Varsity 8 and Varsity 8 taking on the Longhorns at 3:10 PM and 3:40 PM, respectively.

In the Sunday session, the Tigers start the day at 8:30 AM with the 3rd Varsity 4 taking on ACC-rival #2 Virginia. Then at 8:50 AM, the Novice 8 will also race against the Cavaliers, as will the 2nd Varsity 4 at 9:10 AM. The Varsity 4 will take on #17 UCLA at 9:40 AM, with the 2nd Varsity 8 also racing against UCLA at 10:10 AM. The final race of the weekend features Clemson and UCLA in the Varsity 8 race at 10:40 AM.

Becca Brown Named Vickery Hall Women’s Student Athlete of the Week

Brown rowed in the sixth seat of the Varsity 8+ that defeated two of the best programs in the country in Columbus, OH. The 14th-ranked Tigers defeated Varsity 8+ teams from #12 Michigan and #7 Ohio State at the regatta. Clemson recorded a time of 6:44.40 while the Wolverines recorded a time of 6:47.94 in the first race of the day. The highlight of the day was the victory over Ohio State. The Buckeyes got off to a great start, but Clemson was patient, and slowly moved through Ohio State during the first 500 meters of the race. The Tigers finished the race with a time of 6:56.25, while the Buckeyes finished with a time of 6:59.60.
