CLEMSON, SC – Junior D’Lesha Lloyd posted her fourth double-double of the season with 25 points and 13 rebounds in leading Clemson to a 77-69 victory over Dayton on Tuesday evening at Littlejohn Coliseum. The win was the Lady Tigers’ third straight as they now own a 6-6 overall record.

“Any win is a good win,” said Clemson Head Coach Cristy McKinney. “We are a young team and still learning, but we are happy with a win. D’Lesha stepped up for us in the second half, especially on the boards.”

The loss dropped the Flyers to 4-7 on the year.

Along with Lloyd, Adrianne Bradshaw and Lele Hardy scored in double figures for the Lady Tigers, while Tasha Taylor recorded a team-high five assists.

Nikki Oakland led Dayton with 29 points while tying for high rebounding honors with nine in the contest. Brittany Holterman also pulled down nine boards for the Flyers.

Clemson jumped out to a 28-16 lead in the first eight minutes of the game, as six different players scored during the stretch. However, Dayton held the Lady Tigers to just seven points in the remainder of the period, including a 7-0 run after a Lloyd lay-up put Clemson on top by 12.

The Flyers tied the score at 30 apiece at the 4:31 mark on a jumper by Oakland before the Lady Tigers regained a three-point advantage. Oakland then put her team on top with 1:28 remaining after hitting two field goals and drained another jumper to give Dayton a 36-35 lead at the break.

Clemson took back the lead just seven seconds into the second half and did not relinquish it for the remainder of the game. The Lady Tigers widened the margin to as many as 14 points at the 11:29 mark as a jumper by Lloyd put them on top 57-43. They then led by 12 points at 74-61 with 2:42 left before Dayton made a final push.

The Flyers outscored Clemson, 8-3, in the final minutes, narrowing the margin to as little as five points on Holterman’s only points of the game. However, Lloyd and Christy Brown converted free throws down the stretch to clinch the victory for the Lady Tigers.

Clemson will return to action on Friday afternoon, as they welcome the Wofford Terriers to Littlejohn Coliseum.
