Clemson Will Play Charlotte Wednesday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s soccer team will play host to Charlotte on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field. The game will be broadcast live on www.clemsontigers.com via Tigercast.

Clemson is now 0-2 on the year while Charlotte is 1-1 this season.

This will be the 14th meeting between Clemson and Charlotte on the soccer field. Clemson leads the overall series 9-2-2. The first match in the series was in 1980. In this match, Clemson played its first ever home night match on September 24, 1980.

The 2009 season marks the 75th anniversary of Clemson soccer as the Tigers first played Furman on February 14, 1934. This was also the first intercollegiate men’s soccer match in the state of South Carolina. Clemson fielded soccer in 1934 through the 1939 season. Fred Kirshner coached the Tigers during this time.
