Clemson Will Play Boston College Friday Night

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson Men’s Soccer team will play at ACC-foe Boston College Friday night at 7:00 p.m.

Clemson will enter the match with a 2-6-1 record overall and a 1-2 mark in ACC play. The Eagles are 5-6 overall and 1-2 in league play.

The Tigers are led in scoring by senior foward, Nathan Thornton with four goals and one assist for nine points. Joseph Bendik has 37 saves this season. He is now in sixth place on the Clemson career list for most saves with 223.

The Eagles are led in scoring by Charlie Rugg with three goals and two assists for eight points.

This will be the sixth meeting between Clemson and Boston College in men’s soccer. The series is tied 2-2-1.

The 2009 season marks the 75th anniversary of Clemson soccer as the Tigers first played Furman on February 14, 1934. This was also the first intercollegiate men’s soccer match in the state of South Carolina. Clemson fielded soccer in 1934 through the 1939 season. Fred Kirshner coached the Tigers during this time.
