Clemson Travels to Chapel Hill to Play #3 North Carolina Friday Night

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s soccer team will travel to Chapel Hill, NC and play the third-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels on Friday, October 7 at 7:00 PM.

Bryniar Benediktsson leads the Tigers with four goals and two assists for 10 points. He has scored at least one goal in three of the last four matches for Clemson.

Clemson is 3-5-0 overall, and 1-3 in the ACC. The Tigers are coming off of a recent 2-0 loss to Virginia on Friday, September 30. In the two games prior to the Virginia match, the Tigers won in overtime over NC State and Gardner-Webb with late goals from Benediktsson.

The Tar Heels are 9-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in league play. North Carolina is led in scoring by Billy Schuler who has eight goals for the season, four of which are game-winners. The Tar Heels won in their last outing with a 2-1 victory over UNC-Asheville in overtime.

This will be the 55th meeting between the two teams on the soccer field. Clemson leads the overall series with a 27-21-6 record.

Clemson goalkeeper Cody Mizell ranks second in the conference for saves per game with an average of five per game. He is ranked ninth overall in save percentage with a .729 mark.
