Clemson To Face Alabama-Birmingham Sunday At 2:00 PM

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s soccer team will play host to Alabama-Birmingham Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. on the Tigers’ Riggs Field in the NCAA Tournament’s Final 16.

Clemson has an 18-4 record overall and won the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship this season. The Tigers are led in scoring by Ian Fuller with 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points. Dimelon Westfield has nine goals and five assists for 23 points.

The Tigers defeated Kentucky 1-0 in triple overtime to advance to the Final 16. Kenneth Cutler scored the winning goal for the Tigers for his first goal of the season.

Doug Warren, Clemson’s goalkeeper registered his eighth solo shutout of the season Sunday afternoon against Kentucky. This year he has allowed only 14 goals for a 0.69 goal allowed average.

Alabama-Birmingham has a 15-5 record overall this season. They defeated Furman and South Carolina in Columbia over the weekend to advance to the NCAA Final 16. The Blazers are led in scoring by Martin Rey with 13 goals and five assists for 31 points. Clint Baumstark is the goalkeeper and he has allowed only 15 goals this season for a 0.85 goal allowed average.
