CLEMSON, SC – The 34th-ranked Tiger tennis team will look to improve its 7-4 record when it travels to the state of Alabama during the university’s spring break. Clemson will face the Troy Trojans on Monday, Mar. 20 at South Alabma’s David Lubel Memorial Courts in a 12:00 PM match. The Tigers will then play the host Jaguars on the same courts on Tuesday, Mar. 21 at 11:00 AM.
Clemson’s Carol Salge and Federica van Adrichem are listed ninth in the latest Fila/ITA doubles rankings with a 7-2 record during the spring season. Prior to entering the poll, the duo posted upsets of two top-15 ranked teams.
Van Adrichem and Daniela Alvarez are also ranked in the singles poll at #46 and #119, respectively. Van Adrichem boasts a 15-9 combined record, while Alvarez is 13-8 overall.
Monday’s contest will be just the second meeting in history between Clemson and Troy. The only other contest was a first-round match-up in the 2004 NCAA Regionals. The Tigers won a 4-0 decision on their home court that year.
Clemson holds a 6-4 advantage over the South Alabama Jaguars in the series score. Last season, the then-ranked #18 Tigers defeated South Alabama, 4-3, in Clemson. The teams are tied with two wins apiece in matches played on the Jaguars’ home court, with Clemson claiming the last match in Mobile, 5-2, during the 2004 season.
