CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s and women’s swimming and diving team will travel to Chapel Hill to face ACC opponent North Carolina on Saturday, January 9 at 11:00 a.m. Both the Tar heels’ men and women are currently ranked in the top-15 of the CSCAA poll, as the men are 14th and the women are 15th. The Tiger men are entering this meet with a record of 5-1 (0-1 ACC) while the women are 8-1 (2-0 ACC).
The Tar heels lead the series between the two teams as the men currently hold a 44-5-1 advantage and the women are 26-5 against the Tigers. The two teams met last season with the Tar heels taking the Tigers’ women 174-124 and the men 180-118.
On the men’s side, the backstroke events will provide strong competition as Clemson’s Thomas Recko currently ranks second in the 200 and seventh in the 100 in the ACC and North Carolina’s Tommy Wyher is first in the 100 and eighth in the 200. Clemson’s Chris Dart will also be in the mix as he is fifth in the 100.
For the women, Clemson’s Kelli Kyle is ranked fourth in the ACC for the Tigers and Carly Smith is sixth for the Tar heels.
After North Carolina, the Tigers will host nationally ranked Florida State on Saturday, January 16 in McHugh Natatorium at 11:00 a.m.
