Clemson Signee Crawford Reeves Reaches Finals of South Carolina Match Play

Clemson, SC–Clemson 2009 signee Crawford Reeves of Greenville, SC will play in the championship match of the South Carolina Match Play Championship at Oldfield Golf Club in Okatie, SC on Sunday. Reeves, 18, will be a freshman on the 2009-10 Clemson golf team. He will face Jarrett Grimes, 36, of Columbia, in the 36-hole final on Sunday.

Reeves has reached the 36-hole final by defeating two of his future Clemson teammates along the way. In the round of 16 he defeated Brewer Bradshaw of Columbia in 19 holes. In Saturday’s semifinal match he defeated Clemson sophomore McCuen Elmore 5 & 4.

Reeves has experience in the match play format. He won the 2007 and 2008 South Carolina Junior Match Play championship.

Clemson had three of the final eight competitors in the tournament. Elmore reached the Elite 8 by defeating Austin Reeves of Greenville, SC 1-up. Luke Hopkins reached the final eight before losing to Rob Simmons if Beaufort, SC 1-up. For the week, Hopkins made 32 birdies and never made a bogey. He made four birdies and no bogeys in his match with Simmons, but still lost.
