Clemson Rowing Competes At Buckeye Invitational

CLEMSON, SC – The 15th-ranked Clemson rowing team competed at the Buckeye Invitational held Saturday at the Griggs Reservoir on the Scioto River in Columbus, OH.

In the morning session, the Tigers’ second varsity 8+ finished second in its race. Clemson finished the race in 6:50.97, just behind Ohio State (6:47.50). Kansas was third with a time of 6:53.15 and Michigan State was fourth with a time of 6:54.30.

The first novice 8+ finished fourth in their morning race. Kansas recorded the top time of 7:02.45 while Michigan State finished second with a time of 7:07.98. Ohio State was third in the Tigers’ section with a time of 7:12.60 and Clemson was fourth in 7:21.15.

In the first varsity 4+ race, the Tigers recorded a third-place finish in their section. Ohio State won the race with a time of 7:40.62 and Michigan State was second in 7:41.70. Clemson finished third in their section with a time of 8:05.42 and Kansas was fourth in 8:11.88.

The first varsity 8+ finished third in its morning race. Ohio State won the section with a time of 6:47.20 while Michigan State was second in 6:50.98. Clemson finished third with a time of 7:04.34, and Kansas was fourth in 7:05.48.

In the afternoon session, Clemson’s second varsity 8+ won their race with a time of 6:47.49. Iowa was second in 6:48.67 and Kansas was third with a time of 6:56.92. The first novice 8+ posted a second place finish with a time of 7:15.24. Kansas won the event in 6:59.0 while Iowa was third in 7:21.05. The Tigers’ first varsity 4 finished third in its race with a time of 8:02.87. Iowa won the race with a time of 7:33.43 and Kansas was second in 7:45.58. Clemson’s first varsity 8+ also finished second in its afternoon race. The Tigers’ recorded a time of 6:46.06, finishing behind Iowa (6:39.50). The Tigers defeated Kansas, who finished third in 6:54.81.

Clemson will compete at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships next weekend in Oak Ridge, TN. The Tigers will face Miami, Duke, North Carolina, Louisville, Kansas State, West Virginia, Central Florida and Tulsa.
