CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson golf team will defend its team championship at the Furman Invitational this weekend. The Tigers will be one of 24 teams that will tee off on Friday at the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, SC. The field will play 18 holes a day, Friday through Sunday.

Clemson’s starting five this weekend will feature two sophomores, two juniors and a freshman. Clemson will also have a pair of competitors who will play as individuals.

Crawford Reeves, a native of Greenville, SC, will be in the lineup. He has been Clemson’s best golfer recently with an 11th place finish at the Puerto Rico Classic and a fifth place at the UNC-Aiken Cleveland Classic. That fifth place finish was his best in a tournament playing for the Tigers. Reeves has a 74.17 stroke average for the season.

Clemson’s top golfer in terms of average this year is Corbin Mills with a 73.83 figure. He has two top 10 finishes this year, including a season best third place at the Jacksonville Invitational. He finished third at Furman last year.

Jacob Burger will also be in the lineup for Clemson this weekend. The junior from Orangeburg finished 11th at the UNC-A Cleveland Classic and has a 73.89 stroke average for the year.

McCuen Elmore and Thomas Bradshaw round out the Clemson lineup. Elmore has a 74.80 average and Bradshaw, playing in just his second career event for the Tigers, has a 75.67 stroke average.

Mike Soowal will compete in the tournament as individuals. It will be the first career event for Soowal.
