Clemson Receives NCAA Tournament Bid

Clemson, SC – The Clemson Lady Tiger soccer team has received a bid to play in the NCAA Tournament for the eighth consecutive year as announced on Monday afternoon. Clemson will play host to the first two rounds at Riggs Field. The Lady Tigers will face Kentucky at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 16. In the other game on Riggs Field, Florida State will play Auburn at 12:00 p.m.. The two winners will meet Sunday, November 18, at 12:30 p.m. in the second round. This year’s NCAA Tournament consists of 64 teams.

This is the eighth year that Clemson has fielded the sport of women’s soccer and Clemson has received a bid every season. The Lady Tigers advanced to the NCAA Final Eight in 1997, 1999 and 2000, (three of the last four years). Clemson has a 13-4-1 record overall this season. Clemson is led in scoring by Lindsay Browne with nine goals and seven assists for 25 points. Deliah Arrington has 10 goals and three assists for 23 points. Paige Ledford had nine goals and five assists for 23 points.

Kentucky has a 12-7-1 record overall. Annie Gage leads the Wildcats in scoring with 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points. Kathy Falk has six goals and seven assists for 19 points. “We are pleased to be able to have the first and second rounds at Clemson,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. “This is testimony to the fact that Clemson has built a quality program and gained respect in eight short years. We are excited that four quality teams are playing from both the ACC and the SEC at Clemson. I am not surprised that seven teams from the ACC made it to the NCAA Tournament.”
