Clemson Men?s Soccer Receives Votes in NSCAA Preseason Poll

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s soccer team received 25 votes in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men’s Preseason rankings, the second most among programs not included in the initial Top 25.

A total of eight ACC programs are either ranked or received votes in the NSCAA poll.

Included on Clemson’s 2014 schedule are nine teams that are either ranked or received votes in the NSCAA preseason poll, and eight teams that participated in last season’s NCAA Tournament. In addition to Virginia (No. 3), Wake Forest (No. 11), Louisville (No. 14), North Carolina (No. 22) and Syracuse (RV), Clemson will face four non-conference opponents that are ranked or received votes in the preseason poll. Charlotte (No. 23), UAB (RV) and South Florida (RV) all visit Clemson this season. The Tigers travel to UC Irvine (No. 16).

The Tigers finished sixth in the ACC standings in 2013 with an overall record of 11-7-3 and a conference record of 5-4-2, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2006. Head coach Mike Noonan, who is entering his fifth season at the helm, lead the Tigers to wins over then-No. 21 Virginia on Sept. 6 and two wins over North Carolina last season. The Tar Heels were ranked No. 6 nationally at the time of Clemson’s first victory and No. 15 nationally when the Tigers were victorious in the first round of the 2013 ACC Tournament.
