Clemson Lady Tiger Soccer Team Starts Preseason Practice

Aug. 12, 2004

Clemson, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team opened preseason practice on Wednesday, August 11.

Clemson had two sessions, one practice in the morning and an evening inter squad scrimmage.

“In the morning, we had fitness testing and the coaching staff was real pleased with the fitness level,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. “The upper classmen set a good standard for the younger players during our first day. Our freshmen showed great potential and athleticism.

“In the evening session, we had a very competitive scrimmage with a very high level of intensity. The match ended in a 2-2 tie, with the White Team winning in the penalty kick round. The goals scorers were Paige Ledford with two goals on the White team, and Lydia Vandenbergh, and Lindsay Browne scored one goal each for the Orange Squad.

“We were very encouraged with what we saw in the scrimmage. We played well on both ends. Again our fitness level is very good. We played well defensively and we also did well in attacking.”

Clemson will open the 2004 season on Friday, August 27, at Texas in Austin, TX.

The Lady Tigers have nine starters, and 18 letterwinners returning from the 2003 squad.

Head Coach Todd Bramble is entering his fourth season at Clemson.
