Clemson Notes:

  • The Clemson women’s tennis team hosts two top-15 opponents from the SEC this week at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. On Thursday, Jan. 31, the Tigers face No. 15 South Carolina at 4 p.m., and on Saturday, Feb. 4, they host No. 5 Georgia at 4 p.m.
  • The Tigers are 4-2 on the season, after opening at 4-0 before dropping two matches to top-20 opponents at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Tallahassee, Fla. last weekend.
  • The matches against South Carolina and Georgia are part of a straight of four-consecutive matches against top-20 opponents. On Jan. 25 and Jan. 26 in Tallahassee, the Tigers faced LSU, ranked 18th in this week’s ITA poll, and Florida State, ranked in a tie for 20th in this week’s poll.
  • The Gamecocks have three singles players ranked in the top 125 of the ITA singles poll and three doubles teams in the top 60 of that poll, while the Bulldogs have an impressive six top-125-ranked singles players, including the top-ranked player in the nation.
  • Clemson’s top two singles players, seniors Marie-Alexandre Leduc and Fernanda Navarro, are both undefeated, at 3-0, on the season at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
  • The duo has also been impressive at No. 1 doubles, with a 4-1 record in dual match play.
  • Junior Tate Schroeder has also been successful in singles play to open the young season, with a 3-1 record at No. 3 and 4 singles.
  • Leduc and Navarro are currently ranked No. 3 in the nation in doubles, after winning the National Championship at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships to conclude the Fall 2018 season.
