Clemson Golfers at USCA Cleveland Classic Monday and Tuesday

CLEMSON, SC – Freshman Thomas Bradshaw will make his debut with the Clemson golf team on Monday when the Tigers compete in the USC-Aiken Cleveland Classic in Aiken, SC. The two-day 54-hole tournament will be played at par 70 Palmetto Country Club in Aiken.

Eighteen teams will be in the field for the 14th annual event that is played on the fourth oldest golf course in the United States. USC-Aiken, one of the top Division II programs in the nation, will play host to the event that will include Clemson, Maryland and Virginia from the ACC, and Alabama, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky from the SEC. The team will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.

Clemson finished second to Chattanooga in last year’s tournament with an 862 score. Luke Hopkins was 19th with a 219 score.

Elmore, who is a native of Cheraw, SC, will be back in the lineup for the Tigers on Monday. He has a 75.00 stroke average for the year, fourth on the Clemson team.

Corbin Mills has the top scoring average so far this year with a 73.60 figure. The native of Anderson, SC has two top 10 finishes and a team best seven rounds at par or better.

Crawford Reeves was Clemson’s best player in its most recent event, as he finished 11th at the Puerto Rico Classic with a three-under-par 213 score. Reeves has a 74.87 stroke average for the year, third best on the team. Reeves did not play at the Cleveland Classic last year.

Burger has a 74.40 stroke average so far this year, second best on the team. He was Clemson’s second best player in Puerto Rico with a 218 score, including a 69 in the second round.

Bradshaw is a true freshman who has not played in an event yet this year, but he has impressed the coaching staff in practice rounds. The native of Columbia, SC won 12 tournaments over his last three years of high school, including eight in high school or AJGA events in 2009. He was the 3A Player of the Year in 2009 and 2008 for the state of South Carolina.
