Clemson Finishes Third at The Ridges

Clemson, SC – Brian Duncan, Jack Ferguson and Brent Delahoussaye all finished in the top 10 individually, leading Clemson to a third-place team finish at the Bank of Tennessee @ The Ridges college golf tournament on Sunday. It was the first tournament of the academic year for Larry Penley’s Tigers, the second consecutive year Clemson has finished third at the event.

Clemson finished with a team score of 861, three-under-par as a team, seven shots behind first-place Tennessee, who had an 854 total. TCU was second at 857 and Oklahoma was fourth with an 870 score at the 15-team national event. Wake Forest was second among ACC schools and fifth overall with an 871 score, while LSU was sixth at 873. Other ACC schools in the tournament included Virginia (9th, 880), North Carolina and Duke (tied for 10th at 883, Virginia Tech was 13th at 885 and Florida State was 15th at 891.

Clemson was led throughout the tournament by junior Brian Duncan, who finished with a 54-hole score of 211. He had rounds of 68-69-74 in finishing third individually. Phllip Pettit of Tennessee was the individual medallist with a 208 score. Duncan had just two bogeys over his first two rounds and had one stretch in each round in which he had three consecutive birdies.

Jack Ferguson, a senior from Seneca, was sixth with consistent scores of 70-72-71 on the par 72 course that is 7147 yards in length. Ferguson had five birdies and four bogeys in his round on Sunday and finished the event with 12 birdies.

Delahoussaye had an even par 216 total for the tournament, including a two-under-par 69 on Sunday, the best round by a Tiger on the day. The senior from Greenville had rounds of 72-75-69.

Martin Catalioto was the fourth among Clemson golfers with a 223 total after rounds of 78-72-73, good enough for 42nd place, while Stephen Poole had a 226 total after rounds of 76-76-74. Poole, from Spartanburg, SC, finished 59th.
