Clemson Drops South Florida, 5-2, In Women’s Tennis

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s team defeated the South Florida Bulls 5-2 on Friday afternoon at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. With the win, the Tigers improve to 6-6 overall, while the Bulls fall to 4-8 overall.

Clemson won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The Tigers’ team of Laurence Jayet and Alix Lacelarie defeated South Florida’s Natalie Schwartz and Genevieve Houle by a score of 8-4 at number one doubles. At flight two doubles, Clemson’s Anna Dolinska and Anna Savitskaya were victorious over the Bulls’ Jennifer Sinclair and Claudia Nieto, 8-1. At number three doubles, South Florida’s Ashlee Callahan and Jackie Spicijaric defeated Ioana Paun and Richele LeSaldo, 8-2.

In singles action, Clemson freshman Alix Lacelarie defeated Natalie Schwartz by a score of 7-5, 6-1 at number one singles. Genevieve Houle defeated Clemson’s Anna Savitskaya 7-6(5), 6-3 at number two singles. At flight three singles, Richele LeSaldo of Clemson dropped a close three-set match to South Florida’s Jennifer Sinclair by a score of 3-6, 7-6, 7-6. The Tigers’ Ioana Paun defeated the Bulls’ Ashlee Callahan, 6-1, 6-4 at number four singles. Clemson’s Ana Stiglic and South Florida’s Jackie Spicijaric claimed a set each (7-6, 6-7) before Speicijalic retired at the five singles position. The Tigers’ Milena Stanoycheva was victorious in the six singles slot over South Florida’s Jamie Larson, 6-2, 6-2.

The Tigers will travel to Hawaii to take on Hawaii, Oklahoma, Murray State and Washington State next week.
