Clemson Defeats Virginia Tech 1-0 in Women’s Soccer

Graham gets game-winner for the Lady Tigers

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Allison Graham scored the game’s only goal early in the second half in leading 24th ranked Clemson to a 1-0 win over Virginia Tech in an Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer match at Blacksburg, VA Wednesday night.

With the win, Clemson improves to 8-4 overall, 3-2 in the ACC. Virginia Tech falls to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in ACC play.

Just 54 seconds into the second half, Jacquelyn Hines played a ball to Britten Meyer, who then fed Graham. Graham promptly blasted the ball past the outstretched arms of Hokie goalkeeper Mallory Soldner for a 1-0 advantage. The goal was Graham’s second of the season.

For the game, Clemson totaled 17 shots to just five for the Hokies. Tech tallied five corner kicks to one for their counterparts. Soldner amassed four saves to one for Clemson’s Lauren Johnston, who recorded her fourth shutout of the season.

Clemson will play host to North Carolina on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Lady Tigers’ next action.
