Final Stats

CLEMSON, SC–Lydia Vandenbergh scored two goals and teammate Allison Graham scored one goal and had three assists in leading Clemson to a 4-0 win over Kennesaw State in a women’s intercollegiate soccer match at Clemson, SC Sunday afternoon.

With the win, Clemson improves to 2-0 on the year, while Kennesaw State is 0-1 on the season.

This is the second time in Graham’s career that she had three assists in a match. She had three assists last year against East Carolina on September 9, 2004. The three-assist performance is tied for third on the Clemson single-match list for most assists in a match. She now moves into fifth place on the Clemson career list for most assists with 26.

Clemson scored early in the fourth minute. Kelly Schneider knocked in a cross from Graham who took a short corner from Vandenbergh.

The Lady Tigers scored again at the 16:49 mark. Vandenbergh took a cross from Graham off a corner kick to give Clemson a 2-0 advantage.

Early in the second half, Graham sent a ball from midfield to Vandenbergh who sent a left-footed, 18-yard shot into the right corner of the goal.

Graham scored her third goal of the year at the 69:14 mark with an assist by Jacquelyn Hines with 69:14 gone in the match.

“Allison Graham gave me two great balls that I was able to put away,” said Vandenbergh. “We have been practicing set pieces this week and it’s fun to watch what we’ve been practicing work in a game. I’ve been trying to step up my game and work hard and hopefully it will pay off this season.”

“I am proud of the way we executed,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. “We had a game Friday night and I was concerned coming into today’s match about our recovery. But we seemed to be focused, and we did a great job executing. The first two goals were scored on set pieces and that set us up and we were able to run a lot of people in and out of the game. It was a good team effort.”
