Clemson Announces 2010-11 Golf Schedule

July 22, 2010

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson golf team will play a 10-tournament regular season schedule that includes competition at courses it has had landmark success, according to the 2010-11 schedule released Thursday by Head Coach Larry Penley. Clemson will play four tournaments in the fall, including the Ping Preview at Karsten Creek in Stillwater, OK, and the US Collegiate at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, GA.

Clemson did not play either of these tournaments last year. The Clemson program has great history at both courses. Clemson won the 2003 NCAA Championship at Karsten Creek, the home course for the Oklahoma State program, and has two victories in the US Collegiate (2006 and 2009). Both tournaments will feature top national fields.

Karsten Creek will be the site of this year’s Ping Preview, September 26-28, and the NCAA Championships, May 31 through June 5.

Clemson will play six tournaments in the spring, including the ACC Tournament at The Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point, NC. Clemson begins its spring season at the Jacksonville Invitational at the TPC Sawgrass in Jacksonville. That will be a two-day, 54-hole event, Feb. 7-8. Clemson will also play in Puerto Rico at the Westin Rio Mar Classic, Feb. 20-22, the USCA Cleveland Classic in Aiken, SC, the Furman Invitational, and the Augusta State Invitational. Clemson is the defending champion at Furman.

NCAA Regional play will begin May 19-21. The NCAA Regional sites are Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, CO; Omni Tucson National Resort, Tucson, AZ; Golden Ocala Golf Club, Ocala, FL; Wolf Run Golf Club, Zionsville, IN; Farms Golf Course, Rancho Santa Fe, CA and Pete Dye River Course, Blacksburg, VA.
