NORFOLK, VA–Clemson and Old Dominion played to a 0-0 tie Sunday afternoon and with the result the Tigers win the Old Dominion Men’s Soccer Tournament Title at Norfolk, VA. The Tigers defeated William & Mary on Friday in overtime 3-2.

Phil Marfuggi who had 11 saves in today’s match and five against William & Mary on Friday was named the tournament’s MVP. Clemson’s Alan O’Hara, Jeff Routh, and Brad Gibson were also named to the all-tournament team.

This is the 24th tournament title that Clemson has won in the program’s history, the eighth under Head Coach Trevor Adair.

With the tie, Clemson is now 3-0-1 on the year and is ranked 13th according to the latest NSCAA poll. Old Dominion is ranked 21st and now has a 2-0-1 mark on the year.

“I am extremely proud of the team,” said Clemson Head Coach Phil Marfuggi did an excellent job in goal. Our team played hard and we won the tournament championship.”

Clemson will play at Maryland on Friday, September 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the Tigers’ next action.
