Jonathan Byrd fired a final round 69 to finish in a tie for third place at the AT@T National Pro Am at Pebble Beach Golf Links in California on Sunday. It was the second consecutive top 10 finish for Byrd, who is in his fifth year on the PGA Tour.
Byrd had an aggregate score of 277 for the four rounds, 11-under-par. The first three rounds are played at three different courses near San Francisco, including one round at Pebble Beach, which is also the site of the final round. Byrd shot a 65 on Friday at Pebble Peach, followed by the 69 on the same course on Sunday.
Byrd, a 2000 Clemson graduate, also finished in the top 10 at the FBR Open in Scottsdale, AZ the previous weekend. He earned $162,066 at the FBR and followed that with a $313,200 check this weekend.
It marked the first time Byrd had recorded consecutive top 10 finishes since the 2004 season when he had a third-place at the 84 Lumber Tournament in September followed by an 8th place at the Southern Farm Bureau in the first weekend in October. He also had consecutive top 10s in 2002 when he won the Buick Challenge and finished fifth at the Southern Farm Bureau to close his rookie season.
With Byrd’s top 10 finish, it means a former Clemson golfer has finished in the top 10 in all six of the PGA Tour events so far this year. Lucas Glover finished sixth at the Mercedes Open to start the year and also finished 10th at the Bob Hope and the Buick Invitational.
