Beyond The Game – Miller Capps

Miller Capps is a senior on the Clemson golf team. We recently caught up with Capps to hear about some of his experiences, beyond the game.

Q. Where were you born?A. Greenville, South Carolina.

Q. What are your favorite things to do in your spare time outside of sports?A. I love reading, going to the beach and grilling with my dad.

Q. What are your favorite things to do in Clemson?A. I really like going to any Clemson event that’s going on. I love walking through campus during the fall. It’s a beautiful time of year.

Q. What are your career plans after Clemson?A. I plan on turning professional after the summer. Eventually, when my golf career is over, I plan on attending law school and becoming a defense attorney.

Q. What is your major?A. Economics.

Q. Why did you choose that major?A. I have always been interested in economics because of the importance it plays in politics.

Q. What is your favorite class you’ve taken within the major?A. Public finance. It was very interesting because we talked about how government fund its endeavors. It’s a lot of the things you read in the news but don’t understand and wish you could ask an economics professor about.

Q. What is your favorite thing about Clemson?A. The camaraderie of being part of the Clemson family is truly something special.

Q. What do your parents do for a living?A. My dad, Steven, is vice president of McGuire Nuclear Station and my mom, Jennifer, used to be a CPA. Both graduated from Clemson in 1987 and my mom received her master’s degree in accounting at Clemson as well.

Q. Do you have any siblings?A. I have two, a brother, Wilson, and a sister, Julia. Wilson is a junior in mechanical engineering at Clemson and Julia is a junior at North Lincoln High School (in North Carolina).

Q. What are your favorite kinds of music?A. Rock music.

Q. What are your favorite sports teams to watch?A. Anything Clemson.

Q. What is your favorite restaurant?A. Pixie & Bills.

Q. Who is your favorite influential figure?A. I have always admired president Abraham Lincoln. He was an extraordinary individual who changed the course of history for our country.
