Alumni in the Pros: September 28

Alumni of the Clemson men’s soccer program combined to contribute a well-rounded effort this past week across the landscape of professional soccer.

MLS Recap

Amadou Dia was named to Sporting KC’s starting lineup for the team’s midweek match against Orlando City. Dia played a full 90 minutes along Sporting KC’s back line.

Tommy McNamara entered the New England Revolution’s weekend match against D.C. United at halftime and contributed one shot on the attacking side of the ball. The Revolution went on to win the match, 2-0.

Over the weekend, Joe Bendik and Robbie Robinson met as the Philadelphia Union hosted Inter Miami CF. Bendik was on the bench for the Union while Robinson entered in the 45th minute. Earlier in the week, Bendik dressed for the Union’s 0-0 draw with FC Cincinnati. Robinson logged 33 minutes during Inter Miami’s midweek match against the New York Red Bulls.

Andrew Tarbell was on the bench for both of the Columbus Crew’s matches this past week. The Crew walked away from the week with three points following a 2-1 victory over Minnesota United FC this past Wednesday (Sept. 23).

USL Championship

Phanuel Kavita captained his Saint Louis FC side in both of its matches this past week. Across the two games, Kavita contributed 10 clearances and two tackles while playing a total of 180 minutes of soccer.

Jack Metcalf played in his 15th match of the season while helping the San Diego Loyal to a 1-1 result against LA Galaxy II during the midweek contest.

Cody Mizell earned his fifth clean sheet of the season as his New Mexico United side played to a scoreless draw with El Paso Locomotive FC. Mizell made two saves in the match.

Kyle Murphy played in the opening 68 minutes for the Tampa Bay Rowdies as they took on Miami FC, contributing three shots and creating two offensive opportunities.

Patrick Bunk-Andersen played the opening 67 minutes for Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC as they team played against Hartford Athletic.

Malick Mbaye was a member of North Carolina FC’s bench for the team’s 2-1 victory over Birmingham Legion FC.

USL League One 

Paul Clowes and the Greenville Triumph earned a 1-0 victory over North Texas SC this past Friday night. Clowes entered the match in the 67th minute and contributed one shot and three tackles in his 23 minutes on the field.

Tanner Dieterich once again earned the start amongst the Chattanooga Red Wolves’ midfield, making two interceptions and completing 88 percent of his passes during his 90 minutes of action.

International 

Oliver Shannon and Bala Town earned a decisive 5-1 victory over Penybont in the Welsh Premier League over the weekend. Shannon played a full 90 minutes for his side!
