Alumni in the Pros: July 27

Alumni of the Clemson men’s soccer program experienced another fruitful week across the international landscape of professional soccer!

MLS Recap

Andrew Tarbell played an inspired 90 minutes in net for the Columbus Crew during his debut with the club early in the week. Columbus advanced into the Round of 16 of the MLS is Back Tournament as a result of Tarbell’s shutout performance and six saves in net.

Amadou Dia dressed for both of Sporting KC’s matches this past week and saw 23 minutes of action along his side’s defensive line in the team’s match early in the week against Real Salt Lake. Sporting KC will play in the Round of 8 of the MLS is Back Tournament after defeating Vancouver in penalty kicks on Sunday evening.

Joe Bendik dressed for both of the Philadelphia Union’s matches this past week, with the Union advancing into the Round of 8 after defeating the New England Revolution on Sunday evening by a score of 1-0.

Tommy McNamara logged 13 minutes and one shot in his appearance for the Houston Dynamo on Thursday, July 23 in his side’s match against the LA Galaxy.

 

USL Championship

Cody Mizell earned the victory in net for New Mexico United as his side earned a 2-1 result over El Paso Locomotive FC. Mizell recorded two saves in net during his 90 minutes on the field.

Kyle Murphy came on in the 82nd minute for the Tampa Bay Rowdies, recording one shot during his time in the match. The Rowdies ended the match in a 1-1 draw with the Birmingham Legion.

Jack Metcalf played a full 90 minutes on the field for the San Diego Loyal, helping his side secure a 2-1 result over the Las Vegas Lights. Metcalf recorded one shot and contributed two interceptions and one clearance on the defensive side of the ball.

Phanuel Kavita wore the captain’s armband as his Saint Louis FC side won its match over Indy Eleven via a 1-0 result. Kavita contributed three clearances and completed 86 percent of his passes in the match.

International 

Diego Campos and Iman Mafi were a part of FJ Jerv’s 3-0 victory on Monday, July 27 over Grorud. Campos contributed one goal in the sixth minute of the match and an assist later on.

Aaron Jones celebrated winning the National League North championship with his King’s Lynn Town side!
