CLEMSON, S.C. – For the first time in school history, two Clemson Tigers have earned weekly honors in the same week as Renee Lyles has been named ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Makenna Morris was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
This marks the first time in Clemson history that two Tigers have earned both an ACC offensive and defensive weekly honor in the same week.
Earning her first weekly honor of her career, Lyles is coming off a successful week as she recorded a brace against Louisville and picked up an assist on the lone-goal of the game against No. 18 Pittsburgh. Against the Cardinals, Lyles netted the first and last goal of the game to open up scoring and ultimately lead the Tigers to a 3-0 win.
Lyles has recorded 13 points so far this season, tying her for fourth best on the team in points. The forward has netted five goals and has been credited with three assists in the 2023 campaign.
Picking up her second Player of the Week honor this season, Morris continues to shine for the Tigers as she closed out the week with the game-winning goal against the Panthers and picked up an assist against the Cardinals. The defender’s GWG against Pittsburgh marked her fourth of the season as she leads the ACC in that statistic.
Morris continues to lead the Tigers in points (22) and goals (8) as she has had an impressive senior season for Clemson.
Lyles, Morris and the rest of the Tigers will now prepare to wrap up the regular season on the road in their final game against No. 12 Notre Dame on Thursday, October 27th. Kick-off is slated for 8 p.m. and the match will be broadcasted on the ACC Network.
