CLEMSON, SC – The 39th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team will compete in its final two ACC regular season matches this weekend as it travels to Chapel Hill to take on #7 North Carolina on Fri., Apr. 12 at 2:30 p.m. Clemson will then travel to Durham to take on fifth-ranked Duke on Sat., Apr. 13 at 1:00 p.m.
Clemson is 13-7 on the season, and 5-1 in ACC matches. The Tigers have won eight of their last nine, and have five wins over Top 75 ranked teams this season. Last week the Tigers defeated 17th-ranked Georgia Tech, 4-3, and 73rd-ranked Florida State, 4-3. Clemson is led by freshman Alix Lacelarie, who is ranked 47th by the ITA in singles. Lacelarie currently has a ten match winning streak at number one singles, and holds a 15-4 record in dual matches and a 5-1 record in the ACC.
Entering Friday’s match, the Tar Heels are 18-3 overall and 6-0 in conference play. Clemson has a 26-9 all-time edge over North Carolina. Last season, the Tigers fell to the then 20th-ranked Tar Heels, 7-0.
Fifth-ranked Duke is 18-3 on the season, and 5-0 in the ACC. The Tigers have a 12-20 all-time record against the Blue Devils. Clemson lost a 7-0 decision to then second-ranked Duke last season.
