CLEMSON, SC – The weekend of April 8-10, 2011 will be a busy one for Clemson Athletics, with multiple events lined up for five different Tiger athletic teams – baseball, football, men’s soccer, men’s tennis and volleyball. The 2011 Solid Orange Weekend will be highlighted by the football team’s Orange & White Spring Game, to be held at Memorial Stadium at 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 9. The Orange & White football game and the Clemson Son’s Bowl (football game featuring former Tigers) are free and open to the public, as are the men’s tennis matches, men’s soccer games and volleyball matches. Parking Parking is free for all events of the Solid Orange Weekend. Parking will be available in Lot 3A, Lot 4, Lot 5, Lot 6, Lot 8, Lot 10, McFadden Lot, Shot Gun Alley and the streets surrounding Littlejohn Coliseum. Handicap accessible parking will be available in Lot C-9 and Centennial Boulevard. Fans are advised to arrive early, as there will be a large number of people in attendance for the many different events of the weekend.
IPTAY/Ticket Office Hours The IPTAY Office and the Clemson Athletic Ticket Office will be open on Saturday, April 9 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Both offices will be open during normal business hours, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, on Friday, April 8.
Be A T.I.G.E.R! Field Day The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Solid Orange Squad will hold the Eighth Annual Be A T.I.G.E.R! Field Day on Saturday, April 9 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the Littlejohn Coliseum lawn. The event is free for children up to the ninth grade. Click here for more information about the event.
Zac Brown Band Brings First Southern Ground Music and Food Festival to Clemson University Zac Brown Band will headline its first-ever Southern Ground Music and Food Festival — a three-day event also featuring folk-pop jazz singer Amos Lee and other acts — at Clemson University April 8-10.
The event will feature live music, a variety of food prepared in Zac Brown’s traveling kitchen and merchandise vendors. Zac Brown Band will headline Friday and Saturday nights, with Amos Lee headlining on Sunday.
“Zac Brown’s phenomenal success as a musician with crossover appeal in many different genres led to the band’s desire to create their own festival. Clemson was selected as the test market for the three-day concept, which is expected to attract more than 25,000 fans locally and regionally,” said Dusty Saine, assistant general manager for Littlejohn Coliseum.
Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, March 4, and will be available at the Hendrix Student Center, Littlejohn Coliseum and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets are $35 per day or $75 for the weekend, and Clemson students receive a $10 discount. A limited number of “Zamily” gold circle passes will be available for $50. Tickets just for Amos Lee’s show on Sunday are $25 for the general public and $10 for Clemson students.
The festival will be held on the upper intramural fields, located behind the north stands of Memorial Stadium. Gates will open at 4 p.m. Friday, at 6 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.
“Festival-goers should expect the full Zac Brown Band experience throughout the weekend,” said Saine.
Two-time Grammy winners and 2010 Country Music Association-nominated “Entertainer of the Year,” the band will put its authentic Southern stamp on every facet of the festival, from the food to the eclectic musical lineup. The concert will showcase a brand new state-of-the-art mobile stage designed for the tour featuring skyboxes, video and a light show.
Each night will feature performances by several artists signed to Brown’s label, Southern Ground Artists Inc., including Sonia Leigh, Levi Lowrey, Nic Cowan, The Wood Brothers, The Wheeler Boys and Blackberry Smoke. Secret Sisters will open the show Sunday. Concessions at the festival will offer Southern-cuisine specialties created by Brown himself, along with the band’s trusted chef Rusty Hamlin, including items prepared with Brown’s famous Southern Ground Grub GA Clay Spice Rub and his own Brown Sauce.
Clemson Campus Life and Tiger Paw Productions are producing the event in collaboration with Campus Recreation. The festival will be promoted in conjunction with the athletic department to highlight all the sporting events of Clemson’s Solid Orange Weekend, including the traditional Orange and White spring football scrimmage.
