Clemson, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team, ranked 21st by the ITA, will face the Wolfpack of NC State in Raleigh, NC on Saturday, Mar. 12 in a 12:00 pm match. The Tigers are 7-6 on the season and 1-1 in the ACC, while the Wolfpack is 7-3 overall. Saturday’s match will be the first conference contest for NC State.
Senior Julie Coin is currently ranked #2 in the country in the ITA singles poll. She has compiled a 21-2 overall record and a 2-0 mark in ACC action. The Amiens, France native is 12-0 in dual matches and 16-0 against ranked opponents this year.
Clemson holds a 31-4 lead over the Wolfpack in the series score and has won the last four meetings between the schools. The last match played in Raleigh was during the 2003 season, when the Tigers posted a 5-2 victory. Last season, Clemson defeated NC State by a score of 7-0 in the contest played at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
The Tigers will then travel to Winston-Salem to take on the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest on Sunday. Clemson holds a slight 18-17 advantage against Wake Forest in the series history. Last season, Clemson defeated the Demon Deacons 6-1 in Clemson, SC. The teams met in Winston-Salem during the 2003 season, with the Tigers winning the match, 5-2. This year’s contest is slated for a noon start time.
