CLEMSON, SC – The 17th-ranked Clemson women’s rowing team will take on Alabama at 9:00 AM on Saturday, March 23, on Lake Hartwell. The Tigers will compete in the final of three straight home regattas to start the season.
“Our team has had a great week of practice,” said Clemson Head Coach Robbie Tenenbaum. “We are looking forward to racing the Crimson Tide on our home waters this weekend. We want to improve in the areas where we didn’t execute as well last weekend and try to put together our full race plan.”
The regatta will start at 9:00 AM with the 1st Varsity 8+ race. The 2nd Varsity 8’s will follow as they compete at 9:20 ahead of the 1st Varsity 4’s at 9:40.
At 10:00, the 1st Novice 8’s will take to the water with the 2nd Varsity 4’s going head-to-head at 10:20. The final race of the day will feature the 2nd Novice 8’s as they take the water at 10:40.
The Tigers last took on Alabama on the water in 2011 when Clemson hosted the Crimson Tide along with five other schools on March 19. Clemson took first in all six races in that regatta.
The entire regatta will be broadcast live on TigerCast at ClemsonTigers.com.
The Tigers are also ranked 17th in the first College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) rowing poll of the season that was released earlier today. Clemson has been ranked in the first poll each season since the CRCA began ranking teams in 2010.
