#16 Tigers To Face Virginia Commonwealth and William & Mary This Weekend

Clemson, SC – The Clemson Tigers women’s tennis team will travel to Virginia for weekend matches against #61 Virginia Commonwealth and #26 William & Mary. The Tigers (4-4) are currently ranked 16th in the ITA poll.

Clemson and VCU match up on Friday afternoon at 1:30 pm in Richmond, VA in just the second meeting between the two schools. The Tigers defeated the Rams, 7-0, last season in Clemson, SC.

Clemson and William & Mary have met on three previous occasions, with the Tigers holding a 2-1 advantage. Sunday’s contest in Williamsburg, VA will be the first held on the Tribe’s home court. Clemson won the last meeting at the 2002 NCAA Regionals in Winston-Salem, NC, by a score of 4-3. The match is scheduled for 11:00 am.

Senior Julie Coin, ranked #3 by the ITA, leads the Tigers’ 2005 campaign with a 16-2 overall record and 7-0 mark in dual action. She is 14-0 against ranked opponents this season and has defeated seven players in the top 15.
