#13 Clemson Women’s Tennis Travels to #24 South Carolina

CLEMSON, SC – The 13th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team will travel to Columbia to take on the 24th-ranked Gamecocks on Sunday. Clemson enters at 9-2 on the season, while South Carolina takes a 2-2 record into the match.

The teams have played two common opponents so far, with each recording a win against Furman and suffering a defeat to Michigan, who is ranked 7th nationally. Clemson is 2—0 this season against ranked SEC foes, with a win at home against #20 Mississippi and a 4-3 upset of #4 Georgia in Athens.

The all-time series between the Tigers and Gamecocks lies knotted at 22-22, and Clemson has an 8-12 record in Columbia.  The Tigers carry a three-match winning streak over South Carolina. Last season, the Tigers defeated the Gamecocks, 5-2 in Clemson.

New individual and team rankings came out on Feb. 18. The team moved up from 14th to 13th. Ina Hadziselimovic is ranked 19th after posting a 9-2 start.

South Carolina will be Clemson’s final opponent before getting into ACC play, and the first of a treacherous stretch of five straight matches against top-33 teams. The Tigers will be tested early in league play, with their first two matches at #12 Georgia Tech on Feb. 24 and at #16 Miami on Feb. 27. Clemson is 5-2 this season against ranked teams.
