CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team will look to stay undefeated for the year on Saturday as the 11th-ranked Tigers will play host to their first top-25 opponent in #6 Georgia. The teams will begin play at 2:30 pm at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center.
Clemson is 5-0 on the year and most recently swept Furman, 7-0, on Thursday afternoon. The Bulldogs have a 4-0 record for 2009, but Saturday’s match will be their first action since posting a pair of wins in the ITA National Team Indoor Kick-Off Weekend.
Fans will be able to follow the action on the Internet by accessing the live stats link on www.clemsontigers.com.
Clemson junior and fourth-ranked Ani Mijacika will likely take on her third straight top-10 singles opponent as Georgia boasts the nation’s #7-ranked singles player in freshman Chesley Gullickson. Mijacika currently owns a 17-3 record and is 5-0 in dual matches.
The Tigers hold a slight 20-19 edge in the all-time series score over Georgia, but the Bulldogs won the last meeting, a 4-3 decision in Athens, GA last season.
