Women’s Volleyball Defeats Central Florida 3-0

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson volleyball team, ranked 33rd nationally, defeated Central Florida, 15-3 15-5, 15-9, on Sunday afternoon in Jervey Gym in the final match of the Big Orange Bash, avenging last season’s loss to the Golden Knights in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Junior Cindy Stern was named the Big Orange Bash Tournament MVP, while Clemson juniors Alison Coday and Skye Frost and sophomore Melissa Kudelka were named to the all-tournament team.

Clemson out hit Central Florida .500 to .048 in the first game to take a 1-0 lead in the match and never looked back. The Tigers out hit the Golden Knights .3770 to .032 for the match.

Stern led Clemson, hitting .625 off eleven kills and one error in 16 total attempts. She hit .568 for the tournament, with 10 total blocks and 11 digs. Coday hit .340 for the weekend, with seven digs and four blocks, and Frost had 15 digs and four blocks in the tournament, while hitting .235 for the Tigers. Kudelka led Clemson at the setter position, picking up 69 assists and 10 digs for the weekend.

Central Florida (1-5) was led Susan Rosenberger, who hit .375 for the match (eight kills, two errors, 15 total attempts). Setter Amanda Fielding represented the Golden Knights on the all-tournament team.

Clemson (5-1) will travel to South Carolina on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match.
