Women’s Track Travels to Blacksburg for ACC Indoor Championships

Clemson will begin competition at the 2006 ACC Indoor Championships on Thursday, February 23 with the pentathlon. Competing in the multi-event challenge for the Lady Tigers will be Renata Miyamoto.

On Friday, the Lady Tigers get underway at 2:35 PM with the 60m hurdle trials. Entered in that event for Clemson are Renata Miyamoto, and Tia Perry. Ope Sobanjo will compete in the 400m at 3:20 PM. The 20lb weight throw will start at 4:00 PM and will feature Clemson’s Della Clark, Krystal Woods.

Clemson will enter Tia Perry in the long jump at 4:30 PM and Thea Dix, Patrice McMillan in the 800m at 4:40 PM. The 200m takes place at 5:20 PM, with Hardy, Hill, and Sobanjo of Clemson represented. Beth Jordan hopes to take the title in the pole vault, which is set for 5:30 PM Friday. Helen Kirkland and Krissy Thompson will also enter that event for the Lady Tigers. Jenny Barton will run the 5000m, which begins at 6:30 PM. The team of McMillan, Johnson, Dix, and Casey Phillips will run the distance medley relay for Clemson at 7:35 PM to conclude the day’s events.

Saturday, the finals for all running events will take place. In addition, the high jump will start at 10:30 AM. Entered in the event for the Lady Tigers are Della Clark will compete in the shot put at 1:30 PM. In the triple jump, which is slated to start at the same time, Miyamoto and Nwankwo will be joined by Michelle Rogers.

The 3000m will take place Saturday, beginning at 2:55 PM. Running in that race for the Lady Tigers will be Barton and Phillips. Clemson’s 4x400m relay team of Miyamoto, Hill, McMillan, and Dix will compete at 3:40 PM in the final event of the championship.
