Women’s Track & Field Schedule Announced

Sept. 21, 2007

Clemson, SC – The women’s track & field schedule was announced Friday by Head Coach Marcia Noad. The Lady Tigers will begin indoor season November 30 and December 1 at home for the Clemson Opener. Clemson will have four home meets scheduled for both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

“Our schedule this year is much more competitive than our schedule last year,” Noad believes. “I think the schedule will allow our higher-level athletes to see the type of competition they need. But I also think that our schedule will allow us to take some of our developmental athletes as well.”

Another factor Noad likes about the indoor schedule is the different types of facilities the team will compete. Clemson will compete at home and at the University of Florida, both 200m flat tracks. The Lady Tigers will also compete at Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, VA on February 8-9, which is a banked track. Clemson’s open date the first weekend of February will likely be filled with a meet held at an oversized track.

Clemson will also compete in the North Carolina Opener on January 12, which will serve as good experience for the team because the Tar Heels’ indoor facility will host the ACC Championships in late February. The Lady Tigers finished fifth as a team in 2005 when the league meet was last held in Chapel Hill.

The NCAA Indoor Championships will be held March 14-15 in Fayetteville, AR at the Randal Tyson Complex.

The Lady Tigers’ first outdoor meet of the 2008 season will again be at home on March 22, the Clemson Relays. Clemson will also have home dates during outdoor season on April 5, April 12, and May 10.

The team travels to Atlanta, GA on March 28-29 for the Yellow Jacket Invitational. It will be held at the same facility that will host the ACC Outdoor Championships April 17-19. A trip to Gainesville, FL for the Florida Relays on April 4-5 is also a highlight of the outdoor campaign.

The host site for the NCAA East Region Championships in May has yet to be determined. The outdoor national meet will be held at Drake University in Des Moines, IA from June 11-14.
