Women’s Track And Field Win Clemson Invitational On Saturday

Clemson, SC – The Lady Tiger track & field team scored 104.5 points to win the Clemson Invitational on Saturday. The second day of competition was highlighted by Patricia Mamona’s runner-up finish in the triple jump and Jenna Baker’s second-place finish in the 3000m.

Mamona was runner-up in the triple jump for Clemson after capturing the long jump title on Friday night. The Lisbon, Portugal native posted a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 41’6.5″. Nakeisha Wineglass also scored in the triple jump while coming in fifth place with a mark of 39’0.25″.

In other field event action, April Sinkler (5’7″) finished third in the high jump, and Kendra Gauntlett (5’5″) finished fourth. Sinkler moved into a tie for fifth place on Clemson’s all-time indoor high jump performance list with her clearance of 5’7″. Linda Buchholz also scored and tied for fifth with a mark of 5’3″, and Katie Farnan tied for ninth with 5’3″, after a judge’s decision.

In the pole vault, Caroline Kennedy finished third with a mark of 11’11.75″, and Emily Barlage finished eighth with 10’11.75″. Catheryne Porter (39’11.5″) finished seventh in the shot put.

Polly Hardy finished third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.52.

Baker, a freshman from Bellevue, OH, placed second in the 3000m with a time of 10:08.17. Abigail Iselborn (10:40.94) finished 10th.

Candice Johnson finished third in the 800m with a time of 2:19.07 and Sunday Ford finished ninth in the mile run with a time of 5:19.19.

The 4×400 relay team of Michaylin Golladay, Hardy, Christina Mason, and Candice Johnson finished with a time of 4:14.19, good enough for 10th place.

Kristine Scott finished in the top 15 of the 200m dash with a time of 25.61, which placed her 13th overall.

Clemson’s women’s track and field team will return to action next weekend at the Florida Diet Pepsi Invitational, held in Gainesville, FL, and at the multi-event challenge in Clemson, SC.
