CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s track and field team competed in the 2002 Orange and Purple Classic on Saturday, held at the Rock Norman Track Complex. Gisele Oliveira led the Lady Tigers with NCAA qualifying marks.
In her final home meet as a Lady Tiger, Moton posted an automatic qualifying mark of 63.28m/207’7″ in the hammer throw to win the event. She also recorded an automatic qualifying mark in the shot put with a mark of 16.28m/53’5″. Oliveira provisionally qualified in the triple jump with a mark of 12.89m/42’3.5″.
Silja Ulfarsdottir won the 200m dash in 24.36, and finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 11.96. In the 400m dash, Marcia Smith won the event with a time of 55.39.
In the field events, Katie Pickett finished fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.65m/5’5″. Jackie Hudgins placed third in the shot put (14.12m/46’4″), and recorded a mark of 34.97m/114’9″ in the discus throw to finish seventh.
The Lady Tigers will conclude their regular season next weekend, May 17-18, at the Reebok Invitational in Atlanta, GA.
