CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s swimming and diving team has been named a College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All America Team for the fall 2011 semester. The honor is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The Tigers’ 3.55 team grade point average was third in the country for the semester.
I am proud of our women’s team who have consistently been ranked top 10 percent in the nation for their academic success,” Head Coach Christopher Ip said. “This number-three team ranking follows their second place ranking in 2011. No matter what has happened to the program, they have stayed true to our team and athletic department’s mission.”
During the fall 2011 semester, the women’s swimming and diving squad finished with the highest cumulative GPA in the athletic department. It was the 25th consecutive semester that the program registered at least a 3.0 grade point average, which is an all-time record for any sport at Clemson University, and the third straight time the program scored over a 3.5 GPA.
The team placed 25 student-athletes on the honor roll, including eight on the dean’s list and seven on the president’s list.
