Clemson, SC – The Clemson women’s cross country schedule was announced Monday by Head Coach Marcia Noad. The Lady Tigers will compete in seven meets in the fall of 2006. Clemson welcomes the addition of assistant coach Gordon Thomson, who will work directly with the Lady Tiger distance runners.
Clemson will travel to the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, SC to begin the season, just as it did in 2005. Last year, senior Jenny Barton won the individual title at that meet. Five Lady Tigers that competed in that event last season return to this year’s squad. The following weekend, the Lady Tigers will travel to Earlysville, VA for the Lou Onesty Invitational (Pre-ACC race). On September 23, the team will take part in the Great American Cross Country Festival. That event will take place in Hoover, AL.
On October 7, the team will travel to Boiling Springs, NC to compete in the Gardner-Webb duels. Clemson did not compete in this event a year ago. The Lady Tigers did compete at the Furman Invitational in 2005, finishing third in the team race. That meet is scheduled for October 14 in Greenville, SC this season. The ACC Championships will take place in Earlysville on October 28. This year’s NCAA Southeast Regional will be held in Louisville, KY on November 11.
Patrice McMillan, who was the Lady Tigers’ top 800m performer in track & field this past year. Thea Dix, Elizabeth Embler, and Lauren Marriott all gained meet experience as well in 2005.
