Women’s Cross Country Ranked in Region Poll

September 3, 1998

CLEMSON, SC-The Clemson women’s cross country team is ranked eight in the Southeast Region, according to the preseason poll released by the Women’s Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Tigers return 11 athletes from last year’s team that placed sixth at the ACC Championships. The Clemson men’s and women’s cross country teams will both open the season on Saturday in the Papa’s Pizza Invitational at Western Carolina.

“I think this ranking is a good start for our program,” said assistant women’s track and field coach Rodney Rothoff. “Our team will now work toward moving up in the poll.”

The complete Southeast Region poll is as follows: 1. N.C. State 2. Wake Forest 3. North Carolina 4. William & Mary 5. Coastal Carolina 6. Duke 7. James Madison 8. CLEMSON 9. Virginia 10. Virginia Tech
